In JTR Jujutsu International Kids’ program, instructors teach children effective self-defense techniques, based on traditional martial arts. The classes are designed for a child's development; the activities are appropriate for their level of physical and mental maturity. In a fun and safe atmosphere, children learn about conflict resolution vs. self-defense. A child will learn de-escalation tactics to deal with aggressors they may encounter in their school or everyday life. Children’s classes are offered four days a week (Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Our instructors teach at a high-energy pace, having fun, imparting useful skills, encouraging fitness, in effect, boosting the self-esteem of each child.
JTR Kids' Program instructors aim to help children develop a strong sense of self-confidence leadership qualities, a moral character, self-discipline, and respect for others especially parents and teachers. JTR kids know when to fight or flee based on necessity and the potential consequences. JTR kids become exceptional in many ways, benefiting tremendously from our Jujutsu training. We know about the remarkable growth in our students because the parents always tell us about the incredible changes they are seeing in their children. Each technique is taught with the child’s safety and well-being in mind. As with all JTR programs, self-protection happens through prevention, conflict-avoidance, and de-escalation, these are best methods applied. Our instructors help equip students to protect themselves where these options are not possible.
The core values of JTR Jujutsu International such as teamwork, honor, respect, and discipline are taught to each child. Students are tested not only on what they have learned but how they demonstrate the willingness to work hard and work with others. If successfully promoted in rank a child ascends to a higher position of honor and respect among his or her peers. Master Danladi's emphasis upon the upstanding development of character is fierce and consistent. These tests are not only about demonstrating skills learned in class, but also how each student comprehends the values that are taught. The dojo provides a principal focus, being a leader of benevolence and peace, teaching children the importance of these benefits which last a lifetime.
Physical conditioning is a significant part of the JTR Kids' program. Our children’s program encourages a healthy lifestyle and employs high-intensity exercises building: strength, coordination, flexibility, endurance, agility and balance, all under the safe supervision of instructors. Master Danladi is a licensed physical therapist who has the advanced clinical expertise to work with children to help develop their gross and fine motor skills. Children's non-certified black belts can be awarded to any child under the age of 15, based solely on a successful testing. These awards or ranks do not hold the equivalent rank or merit as a certified black belt. At age 15, a JTR youth member can test for a certified black belt but is required to learn the additional adult curriculum and after that perform at the same measures to pass the exam.
The children’s program is coordinated by Master Danladi and Instructor Mobi, each with years of experiences in martial arts. Many families have taken advantage of the family discounts and enrolled multiple members of a family into their favorite program. Just have a conversation with any of our JTR family members, and you will get the truth of how this can work for parents and their children.
