JTR Jujutsu's Women’s Self-Defense (WSD) program empowers members with combative skills and fitness training required to respond to physical violence. Our reality-based training provides strategies to employ practical, close-quarters counter-attacks and escape techniques. WSD members gain a presence of mind for situational awareness and safety through our education. Our instructors teach how-to to avoid being targeted as a primary prevention goal. The WSD member's training focuses on weaponizing the body and developing skills with small hand-held weapons.
The Women's Self-Defense program may use aspects of Combat jujutsu although self-defense is not a rank system; therefore no belt promotions are required to progress through our system. Class activities may include strikes in various positions or orientations (front, rear, standing, kneeling, or from the laying on the ground). This program is highly effective for women living in an urban environment that may be at an increased risk doing activities like running, nightlife, dating and traveling alone. Our self-defense tactics build confidence in that they can be applied to any moment or in any environment to ensure personal security and survival.
We welcome visitors in our training studio to participate in a trial WSD class. The class attire is our school "JTR" training T-shirt, ($20) and your personal choice of yoga or athletic pants (No martial arts attire worn). Jewelry is not permitted to reduce the risk of injury. Just come with an open mind ready to learn and train with women that share a "Warrior's Spirit." Promoting your physical and mental health is our top priority, so please be sure to communicate any potential health concerns or injuries to our lead instructor "Master Don" who is a doctor and professional health provider to ensure your safety and protection.
Participants will learn evidence-based prevention, protection tactics in this specialized training workshop. Our "Women's Active Self-Protection" program gives you critical life-saving skills. By taking control and assuming a primary responsibility role you are prepared to take action against sexual assault, domestic violence, and acts of aggression. This unique program will give you valuable information and effective tools. Are you ready to hold your own if ever attacked?
JTR Jujutsu’s - Women’s Self-Defense (WSD) program is hosting a "Women's Active Self-Protection" program for all women ages +12 and older, at any level of fitness. We invite you, your family and friends to join us for this educational and live training exercise. You will walk away feeling much more confident and informed on how to make split-second decisions and take action in a dangerous situation.
Our qualified team includes: a former federal agent and combative expert, off-duty DC police officers and self-defense instructors will share educational videos, speak to lessons learned in real events and teach you self-defense applications. Practical training exercises will include kicks & strikes on pads, defensive blocks, escape techniques, improvised weapons and more.
